European Citizen's year (The contest)

Hi everybody!
We've got some bad news for you. The thing is that we are finishing school (just 2 days left), so aren't going to write here more, but don't be sad because in this entry we are going to explain you the last activity we did at school. So get ready!

The thing is that we are taking part in a contest. Many people over the Basque Country are taking part on it. We thought it was a good idea to take part because the price for the winner is really interesting, a trip to Brusels for some days to see the city or the capital of the European Union. The project that we are preparing consists on doing different activities to show that we are european, because some times we don't feel so. This year is the european citizenship year so our work is focused on the citizens and our rights.

The work was divided in 6 part but we were both in different groups. Each group did a different activity.

First I'm going to explain you what I did (Itxaso). I had been working together with Ane and Lorea. We had to do 3 interviews to an european English native speaker that now is living in the Basque Country or someone that is Basque and had gone to another european country to work or study... Finally, we chose 3 people. 2 of them where from another european country (Niamh from Ireland and Bobby from England) the other was the cousin of a classmate, she is from the Basque Country but she went to study abroad. I did personaly the interview to Niamh and I had the chance to gossip a lot. She told me she came here to work because she wanted to live here as her boyfriend is from here. I ask her 3 questions about her experience but and I record the voice with my mobile. I've got such a bad luck that when I arrived home I realised that the record was awfull, so the wrote what she told me in a paper and then I traslated it to Basque and Spanish. Ane did a similar thing with Bobby, but now he is living in England so they did the interview by email. Lorea didn't get anyone to do the interview, so she put the voice to the recording interview, in Basque and Spanish I mean. I wanted to put here what I did but the blog tells me that it isn't possible, so if someone wants to see what we did, look in the blog of Ane and Lorea.

That was all, now Maddi is going to explain you what she did.

My work was completely different (Maddi). Its not very complicated and its easier to explain it. I worked with Maddi and Andrea! We did a presentation about the main rights that we have being european citizens and the objectives of the citizenship. We had lots of difficulties to do it because at the begining we could not find information related with  the subject but finally we achieve some information and we did a beautiful presentation!

Irish exchange

Maddi: I had a really good time when the Irish people came to Donostia. Before they came here, I thought that it was going to be  hard to communicate with my exchange partner, but I was wrong. It was easier than what I expected.

When I went to Ireland I did lots of activities. My favourite one was one video that we saw one day at school:

We did lots of activities here as well, we visited lots of places, we had dinner together and so on. I will always remember this experience with the Irish students. They were very nice and I hope they are doing well.

We took some photos over here:

Itxaso: I had also a good time when the Irish came to Donostia. The thing is that I didn't have the chance to go to Ireland so I didn't have a exchange partner. But that wasn't a problem because I went with them everyday; We did different activities like going to the beach, visiting the old part... and at night we did also lots of activities like having dinner all together or going to pubs. We had 4 very good days and in the end most of the people cried because the exchange was going to finish. Definitively, it has been a very good experience, I would recommend it to all the people, expressly to the students that next year are going to have the chance to do it.

Easter holiday

Hellooo, this is Maddi.

Its hard to start at school again after a perfect holiday. I had a really good time during this holidays.

On the first week, I went to Ireland with the school. I stayed in my exchange´s house which was near the airport of Dublin. We spent five days in Dublin and we visited some places, such as, Mullingar, Dublin City.. It was a good experience to be able to get to know new people from other country, in two weeks they will be coming to Donostia as we did, can´t wait for it!

When I came from Ireland, I went to Cerdeña (Italy) with my family for ten days. I visited different towns, beaches, mountains.. I tried to speak Italian using the grammar that I learnt before holidays at school, it was fun! Ciaoooooooooooo!

Helloo, this is Itxaso.

I didn't go to Ireland but I had a really good holiday. First, on the first sarturday I went to run with "Korrika" that it is a typical thing that it's done all over the Basque Country to help the language of the Basque Country, which is "Euskera". I ran 15km and I had a good time singing and dancing with the ban that we followed.

In the second week I went to Galicia with my orquestra group. I visited lots of places, there are beautiful beaches and the sea food is really nice; Octopus... There we had two concerts in which lots of people assisted, people from Galicia is really nice. And that's all I have done during the holiday, what about you?

TARA PROJECT

Last days week we have been working in a project which is related with an NGO, Emaús .

In the first day, we met two people who work there. They did a very interesting presentation explaining us what is Emaús, what Emaús does, what the fair trade is...

We learnt that their aim is to give fair salaries to people who works in bad conditions and have difficulties to get money. They work mostly with homeless people. They also try to facilitate the market to grow fair trade products and enable producers to sell to people who buy fair trade products. So, this people who works on Emaús try to convince other people to buy fair trade products so that people who has difficulties or work in bad condition can earn a fair salaries. Just to know more about this project they explain that are shops or different places where fair trade products are sold in our areas.

The second time that we met them, both classes met in the same class with them and we did a video conference with a girl who is working on a project which is related with fair trade, specially, with TARA project. We made her some interesting questions and she gave us the answer with long explanations.

Our sensations were really good. The presentations were very interesting and it was an easy way to learn more about a new NGO,
